12 ECC Women's Soccer Standouts Earn All-Region Praise

The All-East Region lists for the United Soccer Coaches (USC) and Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) for women's soccer included 12 standouts from the East Coast Conference. Six of the 12 earned consensus All-Region status, with five selected to both publications' First Team.

The ECC's major award winners were well represented with Goalkeeper of the Year, Hillevi Eklow, and Defensive Player of the Year, Kristen Breihof, both from LIU Post, as well as the Offensive Player of the Year, Ally Boots from Mercy, were among those selected to the First Team on both lists.

Eklow finished the season with a 17-4-1 record in net for the Pioneers. She made 81 saves and allowed a miniscule 0.72 goals against average. Breihof was the top defender on a LIU Post squad that ranked 35th in Division II by allowing only 0.72 goals against. Boots was among the top scorers in the ECC, ranking second with 15 goals and 33 points.

The other two student-athletes named to both the USC and D2CCA First Team are Heidi Serna of Mercy and Gabrielle Clark of LIU Post. Serna scored 12 goals and added eight assists for 32 points on the season. She was also named the Most Outstanding Player of the ECC Championship. Clark scored nine goals and added one assist for 19 points.

Dina Simonian of NYIT was the other consensus All-Region pick with a Second Team nod by the D2CCA and a Third Team selection by the USC.

Other All-Region honorees include Trista Seara (USC First Team) and Ileen Mejia of (USC Second Team) Mercy, Karolina Viera (USC Second Team) and Arianna Weingrad (USC Second Team) of Bridgeport, Julia Duffy (USC Second Team) and Andrea Huntzinger (USC Second Team) of LIU Post, and Dana Poetzsch (D2CCA Second Team) of Molloy.
