Two ECC Schools Selected to Compete in NCAA Women's Soccer Championship

Indianapolis - The East Coast Conference will send two women's soccer teams to the NCAA Division II Championship for the second straight season. Mercy and LIU Post were included in the field of 48 vying for a National Championship when the bracket was revealed Monday evening.

After winning the second ECC Championship in program history, Mercy (16-3-0) earned the No. 2 seed in the East Region bracket. With the No. 2 seed, the Mavericks will host half the East Region bracket and receive a first round bye. In the second round, Mercy will take on either No. 3 Southern New Hampshire (14-2-5) or No. 6 Georgian Court (16-3-2).

Mercy has already played Southern New Hampshire this season, losing on their home field by a score of 2-1 on October 25. The Mavericks have not played Georgian Court this year.

After earning a share of the ECC Regular Season Championship, LIU Post (15-3-1) earns its fourth straight NCAA Championship appearance. The Pioneers will be the No. 4 seed and will be on the opposite side of the East Region bracket hosted by top seed, Adelphi (15-3-0).

No. 5 seed, Franklin Pierce (12-4-2) will be the Pioneers first round opponent. This will only the third-ever meeting between the two schools and the first since the 1998 NCAA Championship. Franklin Pierce has won the two previous meetings.

First round action starts on Friday, November 10. Second round action kicks off on Sunday, November 12.
