Bridgeport Nipped By Kutztown in NCAA Division II Championship Quarterfinals

West Chester, Pa. - The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team dominated the match outshooting Kutztown University Golden Bears, 25-2, on the day, but one of KU's shots found the back of the net to end the Purple Knights' stellar 2016 season with a 1-0 loss in the NCAA Women's Soccer National Quarterfinals held on a frigid Sunday afternoon at West Chester University.  The Golden Bears move onto to Kansas City with a record of 20-4-0; while UB's season comes to a close at 18-4-0 and just one win shy of back-to-back trips to the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer semifinals.

The match's only score came just 9:50 into the second half when Kutztown's Emily Zwiercan floated a shot to the back of the net off an assist from Felicia Silveria.

Bridgeport had 16 shots to zero for the Golden Bears in the first half.

The loss snaps a 15-match winning streak for the Purple Knights.

Kutztown goalkeeper Imani Taylor made 12 saves for the winners, and UB's Jennifer Wendelius (So., Lidingo, Sweden)  had one save for the Purple Knights.
