Three ECC Women's Soccer Teams Headed to NCAA Tournament

Indianapolis - For the second straight season, the East Coast Conference will send three women's soccer teams to the NCAA Division II Championship. Bridgeport, who earned the conference's automatic bid by capturing the ECC Championship, is joined by Roberts Wesleyan and LIU Post, both of whom earn at-large bids.

Bridgeport is back to vie for a National Championship for the eighth time in the past nine seasons as the No. 1 seed in the East Region. The Purple Knights have put together a dominant season thus far, currently holding an 18-1-1 record and the No. 7 spot in the NSCAA Division II Top 25 poll. They have also outscored their opponents 49-7 so far in 2015.

The Purple Knights, who will host half the East Region bracket and receive a First Round bye as the top seed, will have a familiar foe in the Second Round, when they take on the winner of the match between No. 4 Roberts Wesleyan and No. 5 LIU Post.

Roberts Wesleyan earns its first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history on the heels of a 12-5-2 season. The Redhawks advanced to the final of the ECC Championship with a thrilling, 3-2, overtime victory over LIU Post.

LIU Post makes their second straight NCAA Championship appearance with a 14-3-2 mark to date. The Pioneers' match-up with Roberts Wesleyan will be a rubber match between the two schools. LIU Post won the regular season meeting, with this match also going to overtime,
Bridgeport went 2-0-1 against their potential opponents this season. The tie came against Roberts Wesleyan in the final weekend of the season but Bridgeport get revenge with a 4-0 win over the Redhawks in the ECC.

The other half of the East Region bracket has Northeast 10 Champion and No. 2 seeded, Adelphi, hosting. The Panthers will receive a First Round bye like Bridgeport, and take on the winner of No. 3 Saint Rose and No. 6 and CACC Champions, Philadelphia U.
