Kansas City, Mo. - The National Soccer Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA) released their All-East Region teams
on Tuesday afternoon, with 14 East Coast Conference standouts
listed among the honorees.
Six of the 14 selections come on the First Team. ECC major award
winners Susanne Vistnes (ECC Offensive Player of the Year) and
Kristin Brandman (ECC Defensive Player of the Year), both from LIU
Post, headline the six on the First Team. Vistnes led the
conference with 19 goals and 48 points on the season to earn the
Offensive Player of the Year award for the third consecutive
season. Brandman anchored the Pioneer back line that allowed only
14 goals over 19 games.
Joining them as First Team selections are MacKenzie Cochrane,
Jessica DeLeon, and Abby Zielinski of Mercy and Nicole Worthington
of Bridgeport. Cochrane was the Most Outstanding Player of the ECC
Championship after scoring the clinching goal in a 1-0 victory over
Bridgeport. She finished the year with seven goals and three
assists for 17 points. DeLeon tied for the ECC lead with 12 assists
on the season and scored six goals as well to top Mercy with 24
points. Zielinksi was outstanding at midfield for the Mavericks by
helping limit opponents to 13 goals over 21 games. She also dished
off three assists on the season. Worthington, an ECC First Team
All-Conference selection, gets the All-Region nod after scoring one
goal on the season.
Student-athletes on the Second Team include Samantha Scovel and
Jessica Carrillo of Mercy, Ashleigh Berg of Bridgeport, Lauren
Bellone of LIU Post, and Lindsey Thompson of Dowling.
Rounding out the ECC representation on the Third Team is Julia
Weidenmark of Bridgeport, Bella Mitrevski of Roberts Wesleyan, and
Christina Cottone of Dowling.
