Bridgeport, Conn. - LIU Post's Susanne Vistnes has been named the Daktronics/Division II Conference Commissioners Association East Region Women's Soccer Player of the Year.
A three-time, East Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year selection, Vistnes helped the Pioneers capture the 2014 East Coast Conference regular season title and advance to the Second Round of this season's NCAA Division II Championship Tournament scoring 19 goals with 11 assists for a total of 49 points.
Vistnes headlines a list of 13 student-athletes named to the First-Team All-Region squad in voting conducted among sports information directors at NCAA Division II institutions that are members of the Central Atlantic Collegiate, East Coast and Northeast 10 Conferences. 15 additional student-athletes were named Second Team All-Region. Among the two All-Region teams are 13 standouts from the ECC, the most of any of the region's three conferences.
Joining Vistnes on the First Team are other ECC major award winners, Kristin Brandman of LIU Post (ECC Defensive Player of the Year) and Samantha Scovel of Mercy (ECC Rookie of the Year). Bella Mitrevski of Roberts Wesleyan and Nicole Augustine of Mercy round out the First Team picks from the ECC.
Second Team honorees from the ECC include Danielle Puddefoot (Bridgeport), Lindsey Thompson (Dowling), Julia Backman (LIU Post), Jessica DeLeon (Mercy), Nicola Worthington (Bridgeport), Abby Zielinski (Mercy), Savannah Campana (Mercy), and Julia Weidenmark (Bridgeport).
