Kansas City, Mo. - The Mercy College women's
soccer team has climbed into the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America/Continental Tire Division II Top 25 poll.
The Mavericks join the rankings as the No. 25 team in the
country.
Mercy's debut in the poll comes after defeating defending ECC
Champion and then No. 18 ranked, Bridgeport, 2-1 on September 27.
The victory moved the Mavericks' record to 7-1-0 on the season,
with their only loss coming on the road in double overtime to
current No. 1, Saint Rose.
Bridgeport falls out of the poll after the loss, but is still
listed in the others receiving votes category of the ranking.
Mercy also leapfrogged Bridgeport in the NSCAA's East Region
rankings with the win. The Mavericks moved to No. 3 in the poll
behind Saint Rose and Adelphi. Bridgeport fell one spot to No. 4
with the loss.
ECC member, LIU Post, is also listed in the East Region rankings.
The Pioneers, who are now 6-1-0 on the season, come in directly
behind their ECC rivals at No. 5
