Indianapolis, Ind. – Both the Bridgeport and Mercy women’s soccer teams were included in the NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer Championship bracket revealed on Monday night. Bridgeport is the No. 3 seed in the East Region, while Mercy is seeded at No. 5.
Bridgeport is back in the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in seven seasons after earning the conference’s automatic berth as ECC Champions. The Purple Knights are also making the sixth overall appearance in program history. Bridgeport will take on No. 6 seed and CACC Champion, Caldwell. The Cougars boast a 13-5-2 record on the year. The game will take place on the campus of No. 2 seed and host, American International, on November 15. The winner will advance to play AIC in the Second Round.
Mercy continues the most successful season in program history on the other half of the bracket. After posting their first-ever winning season, ECC Championship appearance, and spot in the ECC Championship Final, the Mavericks will now make their first NCAA Tournament appearance with an at-large berth. With a record of 13-4-1 on the year, Mercy earned the No. 5 seed and will face No. 4 seeded Adelphi on November 15. The Panthers are currently 13-2-4 and fresh off an appearance in the Northeast 10 Championship Game. The winner of the First Round game will advance to face off against host and top seed, Saint Rose.
