Dowling Women’s Soccer Jumps into Top 25

Kansas City, Mo. – After a 2-0-0 start to the season, the Dowling women’s soccer team has jumped into the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Top 25 poll.

The Golden Lions, the defending ECC champions, began their season with back to back 1-0 victories over St Michael’s and Merrimack. The impressive start to the season moved Dowling to No. 23 in the NSCAA poll.

LIU Post, who started their campaign with a 1-0-1 record that included a tie against No. 12 UMass Lowell, was among the schools listed in Others Receiving Votes.

Bridgeport, which began the season ranked No. 12, fell out of the rankings after back-to-back losses to snap their 18 game unbeaten streak.

Dowling and LIU Post were included in the first NSCAA East Region Poll as well. The Golden Lions currently occupy the No. 3 spot, while LIU Post is close behind at No 4.

Queens College also makes an appearance in the poll at No. 10 after starting the 2012 season with a tie against Pace and a win over St. Anselm.

Defending national champion, St. Rose, tops both the National and East Region polls.
