Kansas City, Mo. – After a 2-0-0 start to
the season, the Dowling women’s soccer team has jumped into
the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Top 25 poll.
The Golden Lions, the defending ECC champions, began their season
with back to back 1-0 victories over St Michael’s and
Merrimack. The impressive start to the season moved Dowling to No.
23 in the NSCAA poll.
LIU Post, who started their campaign with a 1-0-1 record that
included a tie against No. 12 UMass Lowell, was among the schools
listed in Others Receiving Votes.
Bridgeport, which began the season ranked No. 12, fell out of the
rankings after back-to-back losses to snap their 18 game unbeaten
streak.
Dowling and LIU Post were included in the first NSCAA East Region
Poll as well. The Golden Lions currently occupy the No. 3 spot,
while LIU Post is close behind at No 4.
Queens College also makes an appearance in the poll at No. 10 after
starting the 2012 season with a tie against Pace and a win over St.
Anselm.
Defending national champion, St. Rose, tops both the National and
East Region polls.
