Kansas City, Mo. – The University of
Bridgeport women’s soccer team was picked at No. 12 in the
National Soccer Coaches Association of America Top 25 Division II
Preseason Poll.
Bridgeport, the reigning ECC Regular Season Champions, come in at
No. 12 in the preseason tally after finishing the 2011 season as
the only unbeaten team in the country. Despite being ranked as the
No. 1 team in the nation for six weeks and also posting a 16-0-2
record on the season, the Purple Knights fell in shootouts in both
the ECC and NCAA Tournaments. *
Bridgeport’s NCAA Tournament bid was their fifth consecutive
appearance in the championship.
