Kansas City, Kan. – Senior midfielder,
Katie Stanley from the University of Bridgeport, has been named to
the NSCAA Women’s Soccer All-America Second Team.
A two-time ECC First Team All-Conference selection and the 2011 ECC
Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Stanley helped lead the
Purple Knights to an unbeaten season in her senior year. She scored
seven goals and dished off six assists to finish with 20 points
from the midfield position.
Stanley was also a NSCAA All-East Region First Team selection. She
had some company from her teammates, as four were also named to the
All-Region squad. ECC Goalkeeper of the Year, Julia Hansson, ECC
Defensive Player of the Year, Marie Pettersson, and ECC Offensive
Player of the Year, Kasey Kenny, joined Stanley as First Team
picks, while Danielle Weir, earned a spot on the Second Team.
Other ECC student-athletes to earn All-Region selections include
Gabirelle D’Aprile (Dowling) and Alexa Niciforo (C.W. Post)
on the Second Team, and Dominique DeFelice (Dowling), Allison
Sloper (Molloy), and Nicole Valentine (Molloy) on the Third
Team.
