Indianapolis – The NCAA unveiled the
brackets for the Division II Women’s Soccer Championship on
Monday night, with ECC members Bridgeport and Dowling included in
the East Region field. Bridgeport is the top seed in the region and
will host First and Second Round matchups. Dowling is the No. 5
seed.
The Purple Knights, who are unbeaten at 16-0-1 on the season,
receive a first round bye as the top seed. They will face the
winners of a First Round matchup between No. 4 UMass Lowell and No.
5 Dowling.
On the other half of the bracket, St. Rose is the host and No. 2
seed. Merrimack is the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 Holy
Family.
Bridgeport is making their fifth straight appearance in the NCAA
Tournament. Dowling, who earned the conference’s automatic
bid to the tournament by capturing the ECC Women’s Soccer
Championship with a 1-0 victory over Molloy, make their second ever
appearance in the field of 48.
