The 2010-11 CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District Teams for men's
and women's soccer have been selected by the Academic
All-America® Committee, with four ECC student-athletes being
selected. Vladimir Milosavljveic of the Dowling was named to the
All-District First Team on the men’s side, while Ivana Babic
of C.W. Post made the First Team and Anna Svensson of C.W. Post and
Rakel Hinriksdottir of Bridgeport made the Second Team.
Milosavljevic, a junior defender on the No. 10 nationally ranked
Dowling men’s soccer team, was named to the First Team for
maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade point average as a Finance major.
On the field, Milosavljevic has helped the Golden Lions shut out
seven different opponents on the way to a 10-1-4 record and ECC
Regular Season Championship.
Babic, a senior forward and three time ECC All-Conference honoree
for the C.W. Post women’s soccer team was named to the First
Team. Babic, currently pursuing a MBA, maintains a 3.96 GPA. She
has also posted another outstanding season on the pitch, currently
ranking second in the ECC in goals (12) and points (30).
Babic’s teammate Svensson, who is a senior back, was named to
the Second Team with a 3.52 GPA as a Biology major. On the field,
Svensson has helped the Pioneers to a No. 15 national ranking with
a 11-1-4 record. She has started in all 16 games on the year and
has helped C.W. Post shut out 10 different opponents.
Hinriksdottir, a senior defender for Bridgeport’s
women’s soccer team, wraps up the ECC’s representation
on the All-District teams with a spot on the Second Team.
Hinriksdottir, who is majoring in Graphic Design, holds a 3.90
grade point average while also starting all 17 games for the Purple
Knights. On the year, she has scored two goals and dished off two
assists.
Nominations and voting for the All-America programs are conducted
by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
There is a University Division (Division I programs) and a College
Division (DII, DIII, NAIA, NJCAA programs).
Three Academic All-District teams are chosen in each district, with
those on the All-District first teams placed on the national ballot
for Academic All-America consideration.
