Central Islip, N.Y. - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has released the 2009 Women's Soccer All-East Region Teams and ten East Coast Conference student-athletes have been selected.
ECC Regular season and Post Season Champion Bridgeport Purple Knights claimed four spots. Senior midfielder Emma Woolley was named to the First Team after tallying 15 points on the season (5g, 5a) and leading the Purple Knights to their first women's soccer conference title. Sophomore defender Danielle Weir along with ECC Co-Offensive Player of the Year Linda Velaj were named to the Second Team while senior forward Sofia Hoflin rounded out UB's representation, earning Third Team honors.
The C.W. Post Pioneers placed three on the All-East Region teams. Junior forward Ivana Babic was placed on the Second Team while ECC Defensive Player of the Year Caitlin Mullady and rookie midfielder Prudence Rydstrom earned Third Team nods.
Dowling's senior midfielder Kate Collins was named to the Second Team while teammate and ECC Co-Offensive Player of the Year Vanessa Moreira was placed on the Third Team.
The Queens College squad claimed a spot on the All-Region Third Team with junior forward Andrea Slavin earning recognition.
