Central Islip, NY - Senior Maria Sonnerborg (Bjarred, Sweden) from C.W. Post has been voted the 2008 East Coast Conference Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Sonnerborg led the Pioneers with 17 goals, including eight game winning tallies and four assists this season.  She helped C.W. Post captured its second straight ECC title and advance to the second round of the NCAA Championships.  The Second Team All-Conference recipient has compiled a 3.905 grade point average and is majoring in business.

East Coast Conference Scholar-Athlete of Year Award recipients are nominated by their institution and voted on by the Faculty Athletic Representatives from each ECC institution.
