Central Islip, N.Y. – Junior forward Selina Moylan of the
University of New Haven and a native of County Clare, Ireland has
been named the East Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year
as selected by the conference coaches, headlining the ECC’s
post-season awards announced Sunday at the conclusion of the ECC
women’s soccer tournament championship at the University of
Bridgeport.
Moylan notched 17 goals and eight assists for 42 points overall
including four game winning scores.
Sophomore defender Emma Woolley of Bridgeport and a native of
Sheffield, England was named Defensive Player of the Year. Woolley
was a stalwart of a Purple Knight defense that helped post a team
goals against average of 1.29 and six shutouts.
Freshman forward Linda Velaj of Bridgeport and a native of
Stamford, Conn. was named Rookie of the Year, after posting a
memorable first season that included 13 goals and three assists for
29 points including four game winners.
Magnus Nilerud of Bridgeport earned Coach of the Year honors after
guiding the Purple Knights to a share of the ECC regular season
championship with a 9-1 record and a 14-5 overall mark.
