Fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of a cure.
Garden City, N.Y.--On Sunday, April 26, 2009, the
Adelphi University No.1 ranked women's lacrosse team will play host
to Saint Thomas Aquinas College in its final home game of the
regular season. The game, which is scheduled to begin at 12:00
p.m., will be in support of Breast Cancer Awareness and the
Athletic Department's "Think Pink" initiative. Throughout the game,
there will be items for sale and raffle prizes. All fans are
encouraged to wear pink with the goal of packing the stands with
supporters.
In addition, the Panthers will also be celebrating the graduating
class of 2009 by recognizing their seniors prior to the start of
competition.
All proceeds from the game will go to the Adelphi New York
Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program. For over 29
years, the hotline has helped thousands of New Yorkers through
counseling, educational programs and outreach to the under served.
Earlier this year, funding for the program was threatened due to
budget cuts. However, recently the center announced that funding
had been restored! Donations are still needed, now more than ever,
so please support our efforts.
