Central Islip, N.Y. - Adelphi University junior, Rebecca Gotterbarn (Garden City, N.Y.), has been named the East Coast Conference Bowler of the Year in a vote by the league's coaches. Felician University's Nicole Aumack (Brick, N.J.) was also selected as the conference's Rookie of the Year honoree.
After earning All-Conference First Team honors in 2016, Gotterbarn was even better this season to claim the league's Bowler of the Year award. An eight-time ECC Bowler of the Week recipient, Gotterbarn was named to the All-Tournament Team at five different events and won the MVP award at both the Golden Bear Classic (Feb. 12) and the Molloy Invite (Feb. 26). Gotterbarn's statistics are also among the best in the nation. She currently ranks in the top-10 in the NCAA with a 20.47 overall frame average (ninth), a 51.9 strike percentage (ninth), and a 20.747 Baker format 10th frame scoring average (sixth). In addition, she has compiled an 85 percent overall filled frame percentage, a 69 percent multi-pin spare percentage, and an 89 percent single pin spare percentage.
Aumack becomes the Rookie of the Year from Felician after Katilyn Buck earned a share of the honor a season ago. A two-time ECC weekly award honoree, Aumack was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Morgan State James Brown Invitational and the Molloy Invite. On the year she held a traditional average of 177.9 and a Baker average of 18.88 as the Golden Falcon's anchor.
Dennis Kearney of Adelphi has been selected as the Coach of the Year by his peers. Heading into this weekend's ECC Championship, Kearney has lead the Panthers to a 67-43 overall record and the No. 17 spot in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) NCAA Top 25 poll.
The ECC also announces its Women's Bowling All-Conference teams. Gotterbarn is joined on the First Team by Jessica Davies (Jr., Franklin Pierce), Jenn Fitts (Jr., Kutztown), Angela Kozma (Fr., Kutztown), and Lena Sorrentino (Sr., Adelphi).
Second Team honorees include Katelyn LaRocca (Jr., Adelphi), Jessica Marcure (Jr., Franklin Pierce), Emily McLaughlin (So., LIU Post), Krysta Peirce (Fr., Franklin Pierce), and Jessica Zalewski (Jr., Felican).
