Stamm, Buck, and Garzio Headline First-Ever ECC Women's Bowling All-Conference Awards

Central Islip, N.Y. - Lauren Stamm (Reading, Pa.) of Kutztown University has been named the East Coast Conference Bowler of the Year in a vote by the league's coaches. Stamm's teammate, Jess Garzio (Ewing, N.J.), and Kaitlyn Buck (Farmingdale, N.J.) of Felician University, share the conference's Rookie of the Year honor.

With women's bowling in its inaugural  year as a championship sponsored sport in the ECC, Stamm becomes the first-ever recipient of the conference's Bowler of the Year honor. She accumulated many accolades throughout the season, including being selected ECC Bowler of the Week on three occasions. She also earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team at three different events for the Golden Bears and was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player at both the Golden Bear Classic (Feb. 14) and the Red Flash Invitational (Jan. 31). On the season, Stamm has put together a 194.4 game average and a 19.04 frame average with a total pinfall of 22,336 and a Kutztown-leading strike percentage of .445 in 116 games.

Buck was a two-time recipient of the ECC Rookie of the Week honor. The highlight of her season came when she was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Golden Bear Classic with a baker frame average of 20.11, the second highest average in the tournament behind Stamm. Buck, a lefty bowler, finished the year with a 159.2 traditional average and a frame average of 18.65.

Garzio shares the Rookie of the Year honor with Buck despite missing time early in the season due to injury. Garzio performed extremely well in limited duty with a match average of 192.8, a frame average of 18.08, and a spare percentage of .735, which led the Golden Bears.

Joseph Ambrose of Kutztown has been selected as the Coach of the Year by his peers. Heading into ECC Championship play, Ambrose has lead the Golden Bears to a 66-44 overall record and the No. 15 spot in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) NCAA Top 25 poll.

The ECC also announces its Women's Bowling All-Conference teams. Stamm is joined on the First Team by Jessica Davies (So., Franklin Pierce), Jenn Fitts (So., Kutztown), Rebecca Gotterbarn (So., Adelphi), Lena Sorrentino (Jr., Adelphi), and Taylor Strothmann (Sr., Kutztown).
