Indianapolis - Molloy and Daemen were included in the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship bracket released late Sunday evening. The East Coast Conference has now sent at least two teams to the tournament for the seventh straight season.
Daemen's season of firsts continues with the program's debut in the NCAA Championship. After sharing the ECC's regular season championship, the Wildcats claimed their first-ever ECC Championship with wins over New York Tech and Molloy to earn the league's automatic berth.
The Wildcats are the No. 7 seed in the East Region bracket and will take on No. 2 seed and NE10 Champion, Stonehill. The Wildcats and Skyhawks have already played this season. Stonehill came away with the 77-70 win in both team's season opener way back in November.
After advancing all the way to the final of the ECC Championship, Molloy earns an at-large berth for the fourth NCAA appearance in program history. The Lions jumped all the way to the No. 5 seed from No. 8 in last week's regional rankings after their run in the conference tournament.
Molloy will take on No. 4 USciences of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) in the regional quarterfinal. The Lions and Devils matchup will also be a rematch of a game from earlier this season. USciences won that November battle, 62-43.
The remaining matchups in the East Region bracket feature No. 1 Adelphi taking on CACC Champion, No. 8 Jefferson and an all NE10 matchup of No. 3 Saint Anselm and No. 6 Le Moyne.
As the No. 1 seed, Adelphi earns hosting duties for the East Regional for the third time in six seasons and will host the regional at the Center for Recreation and Sport on their campus in Garden City, N.Y.
Tournament play will begin with quarterfinal action on Friday, March 13. The semifinals will take place Saturday, March 14 and after a day off, the championship game will be on Monday, March 16.
