Queens Falls to Bentley in East Region Semifinal

Waltham, Mass. - The Queens College women's basketball team fell to Bentley 77-67 in the semifinals of the NCAA Division II East Regional Saturday evening at the Dana Athletic Center.

Junior Madison Rowland led the Knights with a game-high 29 points and completed a double-double with 10 rebounds, and added five steals.  Freshman Kaitlyn Mahon posted 12 points to go along with three assists.
The Knights found themselves in an early hole, as the Falcons raced out to an 11-2 lead with 5:22 left in the first quarter.  QC answered with a 9-3 surge, cutting the deficit to three with 1:22 remaining in the frame.

Bentley reestablished a sizable lead in the second quarter, jumping ahead 30-19 with 2:43 left before halftime.  The Falcons jumped ahead by 15, before four straight points by Queens closed the gap to 11 at half.

The Knights came out of the locker room firing, scoring the first 12 points of the period, and grabbing a 37-36 lead on a layup by Merrick Rowland with 6:31 remaining in the third period.  The one point advantage was as far as Queens could get ahead of Bentley.  With QC ahead, 42-41, the Falcons responded with six of the next 10 points, grabbing a 47-46 cushion at the end of the third.

A three point play by senior Elisabeth Gully evened the score at 49 with 8:19 remaining in the fourth.  Bentley scored six straight to take the lead for good, before extending the advantage to 65-55 with 2:45 left.

Bentley posted four players in double figures, led by Lauren Green's 17 points.  The Knights complete the 2015-16 campaign with a 21-9 record.
