Washington, D.C. - Led by senior Kristen Korzevinski and junior Madison Rowland, the second seeded Queens College women's basketball team powered its way past third seeded University of the District of Columbia 82-56 in the East Coast Conference Championship semifinals Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Knights set up a finals matchup with fourth seeded Robert Wesleyan, who earlier in the day upset top seeded NYIT 67-58.

The Knights entered the game winless at the UDC Sports Complex since the 12-13 season, including a semifinal loss to the Firebirds during the 2014 Championship. The Knights came out firing, making sure the ghosts of the past would not haunt them this time around. Led by Korzevinski, who tallied a game high 30 points on 12-16 shooting, including 11 in the first quarter, QC held a 27-13 advantage after the first stanza.

The Knights kept the same tempo throughout the duration of the contest as the Knights led by as many as 22 points in the game.  Korzevinski's efforts were added by Mad. Rowland who posted her 10th double-double of the season with 18 points and a game high 14 rebounds.  Sophomore Merrick Rowland added 11 points in her first ECC postseason action.

UDC was led by Myla Somerville who scored 12 points off the bench. Iman Scott and Taj Baldwin-Kollore posted 10 and 11 points, respectively.

The Knights shot 45.6% (31-68) from the field for the game, while holding UDC to a 29.9% (20-67) clip. Queens outrebounded the Firebirds 46-43, with 14 points coming on second chance opportunities. The Knights had 23 assists on 31 field goals, and turned 13 turnovers into 11 points. QC also tallied 34 points in the paint.

UP NEXT: The Knights meet Robert Wesleyan (24-6) at 12:00 pm with an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship on the line. Queens is 2-0 this season against the Redhawks, with a 66-56 win coming in Rochester on January 22nd, and then a 72-49 triumph in Flushing on February 28.  ​
