Queens' Rowland Garners All-America Recognition

Huntsville, Ala. - ECC Women's Basketball Player of the Year, Madison Rowland of Queens College, has earned a spot on the Daktronics/Division II CCA All-America Third Team.

Rowland helped lead Queens to their second-ever ECC Championship and NCAA Tournament berth with an outstanding sophomore campaign. In 29 games, Rowland ranked near the top of the ECC in nearly every statistical category. She finished second in the league with a 20.9 point per game average and fourth in both rebounding (9.9 per game) and assists (4.1 per game). In addition, she led the conference with 244 field goals made and 125 steals. Her steals per game total also tops all of Division II, while her points per game mark comes in the top-10 at ninth.

Other accolades in Rowland's tremendous season include scoring 28 points in the Maggie Dixon Classic at Madison Square Garden, being one of only 13 student-athletes in Division II to record a triple-double on the season, and being named the ECC Championship Most Outstanding Player after leading the Knights to a comeback victory over NYIT in the championship game with a 38 point, 13 rebound performance.

Rowland becomes the second player from Queens in the past three years to earn Daktronics All-America honors, joining Bria Jackson who was an Honorable Mention selection in 2013.
