Philadelphia, Pa. - ECC Player of the Year,
Chelsea Williams of LIU Post, and ECC Rookie of the Year, Madison
Rowland of Queens, have been named to the Daktronics NCAA Division
II Women's Basketball All-East Region teams. Williams has been
selected to the First Team, while Rowland was a Second Team
choice.
Williams was a standout for the Pioneers in leading them to the
first East Coast Conference regular season championship in program
history and the team's fourth straight appearance in the NCAA
Tournament. The second leading scorer in the ECC, Williams poured
in 19.2 points per game in the regular season, topping the 20 point
mark on 12 different occasions. She also led the ECC with 186 free
throws made and a 85.6 free throw percentage.
Rowland produced a spectacular season in her rookie campaign for
Queens. She currently leads the conference with a 20.4 points per
game scoring average. Also the ECC Defensive Player of the Year,
Rowland led all of Division II with 114 steals and a 4.6 steals per
game average during the regular season.
CACC Player of the Year, Jeanette Anderson of Caldwell, was named
the East Region Player of the Year.
Sports information directors from NCAA Division II East Region
schools and conferences selected the two Daktronics All-Region
teams. The process concludes with All-American selections announced
later in the month.
The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world
leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for
virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is
voted on by the NCAA Division II members of the College Sports
Information Directors of America (D2SIDA).
