Central Islip, N.Y. - At the conclusion of the
regular season, the Dowling College women’s basketball team
is closing in on the Top 10 while NYIT stays at No. 23 in the
latest USA Today Sports Women’s Basketball Division II Top 25
Coaches Poll.
Dowling jumps three spots to No. 11 in the latest rankings on the
heels of an eight game winning streak. The Golden Lions, who now
sit at 23-3 on the season, clinched their second straight ECC
Regular Season Championship and top seed in the ECC Women’s
Basketball Championship tournament a week ago. Dowling, who reaches
the highest ranking in program history, will look to capture their
second straight ECC title this weekend.
NYIT holds on to their spot in the rankings at No. 23 despite
losing their final three regular season contests. The Bears will be
the No. 2 seed in the ECC Championship after a program record 22
wins.
