Bridgeport Advances To ECC Semifinals With 73-60 Win Over Queens

Bridgeport, Conn. - Junior Aziza Patterson (Teaneck, N.J.) scored a game-high 26 points to lead four University of Bridgeport players in double-digit scoring as the number three seed Purple Knights advanced to Friday night's 2013 East Coast Conference Women's Basketball Championship Tournament Semifinals with a 73-60 home win over the number six seed Queens (N.Y.) College Knights on Wednesday evening.  Patterson also made six steals and dished out four assists for the winners.  UB is now 18-9 overall.  QC closes out its 2012-13 season with an 11-15 record.
 
Bridgeport played excellent defense on the night turning 26 Queens' turnovers into 26 points.  UB also did a fine job of taking care of the basketball committing only 11 turnovers on the night.
 
Patterson was joined in double figures by senior Tanisha Carter (East Hartford, Conn.) with 14 points, graduate student Priscilla Dodoo (Worcester, Mass.) with 12 points and sophomore Jenna Hoffman (Manchester Center, Vt.) with 10 points.  Dodoo finished with a double-double grabbing a game-high 15 rebounds.
 
Senior Bria Jackson (Rochester, N.Y.) led Queens scoring 25 points, and she also had 11 rebounds and seven assists.  Classmate Lisanne Comeau (Toronto, Canada) has netted double figures for QC with 11 points.
 
Bridgeport will now travel to number two seed NYIT on Friday night for one ECC Women's Basketball Championship Semifinal.  Game time on Long Island is set for 6:00 p.m.  Friday's other semifinal pits number one Dowling College hosting number four seed LIU Post.
