Indianapolis, Ind. – For the second straight week, four East Coast Conference institutions were among the 10 schools ranked in the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball East Region poll.
Dowling College remains the highest ranked conference member at No. 3. The Golden Lions went 2-0 last week to wrap up their second straight ECC Regular Season Championship. Dowling, who is now 22-3 (16-1 ECC), has won 17 of their last 18 games and are also up to No. 14 in the national rankings.
New York Institute of Technology is next at No. 4 for the second consecutive week despite losing both of their games over the past seven days. NYIT had a bye to the semifinals in the ECC Championship wrapped up before the week, but losses to Dowling and LIU Post moves the Bears to 22-3 (14-3 ECC) on the season.
LIU Post moved up one spot to No. 7 after two victories, including one over their rival, NYIT. The Pioneers are now 18-7 on the year.
Like Dowling and LIU Post, Bridgeport also won two games last week, but remained at No. 10 in the rankings. The Purple Knights boast a 17-8 mark heading into their regular season finale.
The East Coast Conference has the second most schools in the poll behind the Northeast 10 Conference, who had five. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference had one member in the poll.
The regional rankings will be released weekly on Wednesdays through March 6. The top eight teams (three conference tournament champions and five at-large berths) in the poll after the conference championships will earn bids to the Division II Women's Basketball Tournament.
