Indianapolis – Dowling, University of the
District of Columbia, and C.W. Post all held the same spots as last
week in the latest edition of the NCAA East Region Poll released on
February 22. Dowling is at No. 3, UDC at No.5, and C.W. Post at No.
8.
Heading into the final weekend of regular season play, Dowling and
UDC are tied for the top spot in the East Coast Conference with a
league record of 12-3. UDC has the better overall record at 20-4,
while the Golden Lions are 18-6 on the season. Both squads have
also wrapped up first round byes into the semifinals of the
upcoming ECC Women’s Basketball Championship.
The final ECC representative in the poll, C.W. Post is currently
19-8 on the season. The Pioneers have wrapped up at least the four
seed in ECC play and will host a quarterfinal game on Wednesday,
February 29.
The Northeast 10 Conference leads the way with six representatives
in the poll including Bentley at No. 1. The Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference has one member in the poll.
The regional rankings will be released weekly on Wednesdays through
February 29. The top eight teams (three conference tournament
champions and five at-large berths) in the final regional poll will
earn bids to the Division II Women's Basketball Tournament.
