Dowling at No. 25 in Latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association Poll

Lilburn, Ga. - For the first time in program history the Dowling College women's basketball team is ranked in the WBCA USA Today/ESPN Top-25, coming in at No. 25.

The Golden Lions began the season with a nine game winning streak, a team record, before dropping two contests, including one to then No. 1 nationally ranked Bentley, in the Bridgeport Holiday Classic.  Earlier in the year, they recorded the program's first win against a ranked opponent, defeating then No. 19 Franklin Pierce.

"It's always nice to see the program and the student-athletes recognized for their efforts.  However, it is a long season and we will remain focused on our goals and know the road ahead has many challanges" said head coach Joe Pellicane.  This is Pellicane's 9th season leading the women's team, 20th overall at Dowling having lead the men for 11 seasons, and first NCAA national ranking for either program.

Fellow ECC member, the University of the District of Columbia, is also included in the poll in the others receiving votes category.
