Central Islip, N.Y. - Senior Simona Barkova from Dowling College and senior guard forward E.J. Dreyer from Molloy College have been named the 2010 ECC Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athletes of the Year.
Bartkova boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA as a Biology major. Named an ESPN/CoSIDA Academic All-American this year, she helped the Golden Lions to an ECC Tournament Semifinal appearance ranking second on the team in points and third in rebounds.
A CoSIDA Acadmic All-District selection, Dreyer also carries a perfect 4.0 GPA as a Nursing major. She helped her team to their second ECC Tournament Title for the second time in three years, averaging 7.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game.
East Coast Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year Awards are nominated by their institution and voted upon by the Faculty Athletic Representatives from each ECC institution.
