Woodberry Tops All-Met D-II Women's Team

NEW YORK --- Kymira Woodberry of Molloy was named All-Met Division II women’s college basketball player of the year Tuesday by the National Invitation Tournament and the Met Basketball Writers Assn.

Tim O’Hagan of Molloy and Carrie Seymour of Pace were selected co-coaches of the year.

Joining Woodberry on the All-Met first team: Taylor Losey, Pace; Janea Aiken, C.W. Post; Kirsty Leedham, Caldwell; Briana Sloper, St. Thomas Aquinas; Victoria Sweet, Nyack.

The All-Met second team: Christie Marrone, Dowling; Jasmine Minter, Nyack; E.J. Dreyer, Molloy; Felicia Joyner, C.W. Post; Rachelle Sainten, Dominican; Tiffany McDaniel, Bloomfield.

A senior forward from Hyde Park, Mass., Woodberry led the Lions this season with 15.2 ppg and 11.1 rpg. Also named All-Met player of the year in 2008, she finished her career with school records for rebounds and field goals made.

In his fourth year at the helm, O’Hagan guided the Lions (22-8) to a school record for victories, their second East Coast Conference tournament title in three years and into the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Seymour, who has 341 career victories, coached the Setters (22-8) to an at-large NCAA bid. It was the eighth time in her 18 seasons at Pace that the Setters have gained an NCAA berth. Previously she was named All-Met coach of the year in 1996, 2000, 2001, 2006 and 2007.

The All-Met awards will be presented Wednesday evening, April 21, at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown, N.Y.
