Adams, Diodonet, and Hayward to Compete in NCAA Outdoor Championship

Indianapolis - Three student-athletes from the East Coast Conference have been selected to compete in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship. The event will take place from May 24-26 at the Irwin Belk Complex in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Roberts Wesleyan standout, Chelsea Hayward, will wrap up her outstanding career by competing in her third straight NCAA Outdoor Championship. Like in 2017, Hayward is once again slated to compete in the 100m and 200m dash events. She comes into the championship as the No. 14 seed in the 100m (11.69) and No. 7 in the 200m (23.88). Her qualifying time for the 100m came at last week's National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Championship, while her 200m mark came at the Florida Relays in late March. Hayward should be considered one of the favorites in the 200m after finishing second in the event to earn All-America honors in this year's NCAA Indoor Championship.

The other two ECC student-athletes making the trek to Charlotte will compete in the same event. LIU Post's, Stefan Adams, and St. Thomas Aquinas', St. Jacob Diodonet, will both run in the 400m dash. Adams, who was the Most Outstanding Athlete of the ECC Championship, is seeded 11th with a time of 47.03, while Diodonet is close behind in 14th with a time of 47.19.

Diodonet is competing in an NCAA Outdoor Championship for the first time after earning three straight selections to the NCAA Indoor Championship. His qualifying time came just last week at the Mount Olive Final Qualifier.

Adams, who is making his first-ever NCAA Championship appearance, hit his qualifying mark at the Mets Outdoor Championship in mid-April.
