Rochester, N.Y. - The Roberts Wesleyan College Redhawks won their second straight ECC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday afternoon. This marks the second straight year that Roberts Wesleyan has also swept all six ECC Cross Country and Track & Field Championships.
The Roberts Wesleyan women outdistanced defended their ECC Championship by outdistancing runner-up, University of the District of Columbia, by a score of 192-122. Roberts won six out of the 21 events on the day and had top-three finishers in 11 different events. Individual winners for Roberts included Rachel Hutchinson (1500m run - 4:42.74), Chelsea Hayward (100m dash - 12.00 & 200m dash - 24.79), Brianna Calderon (400m hurdles - 1:05.49), and Kristina Button (javelin - 27.45m). Roberts' 4x100m relay team of Danielle Budd, Kathleen Amstad, Button, and Hayward came in first place in a time of 47.78, as well.
In the men's championship, Roberts Wesleyan dominated the field once again, topping second place Molloy by a whopping 109 points (221-112). Roberts' senior Aaron McGinnis played a big part in the Redhawks victory, winning three different events. McGinnis topped the field in the long jump (6.79m), triple jump (13.11m), and high jump (1.78m). He also came in third place in the pole vault and helped the Redhawks earn points with a fourth place finish in the 4x100m relay.
Other individual winners for Roberts included Jonas Gage (110m hurdles - 19.35) and Malcolm Shaw (javelin - 55.82m).
In the fourth year of the championship, 14 meet records were also broken with seven coming on both the men's and women's sides. Records are denoted with a # in the list of event winners below.*
