Eleven softball student-athletes from the East Coast Conference were recently named to All-East Region Teams by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
Seven of the 11 were consensus All-Region picks. Among the seven were D’Youville’s Maddy Pepke, the ECC Player of the Year, and Bridgeport’s Kaite Burawski and Madison D’Amato, the ECC Pitcher and Rookie of the Year, respectively.
Pepke, who was a First Team D2CCA selection and a Second Team NFCA pick, led the ECC with 72 hits, 57 runs, and a .477 batting average and finished second with 25 stolen bases.
Burawski and D’Amato earned a spot on the First Team on both lists. Burawski was dominant in the circle with a 25-8 record to go along with a 1.80 earned run average and 354 strikeouts in 218.1 innings pitched. She led the ECC in all categories and also topped all of Division II with 10.5 strikeouts per seven innings.
D’Amato was a spark plug atop the lineup for Bridgeport in her rookie season. She hit .428, second in the ECC, and topped the loop with 39 walks and a .544 on-base percentage.
Other consensus All-Region picks from the ECC include Bridgeport’s Kaira Ramon and Kiana Robinson, Steph Conrade from Molloy, and Abbie Landrum of St. Thomas Aquinas. Ramon was a First Team selection for both lists, while Conrade, Landrum, and Robinson earned one First Team nod and one Second Team honor.
Four from the ECC were selected for one but not both All-Region squads. Molloy’s Courtney Greene earned a spot on the NFCA Second Team, while Staten Islands’ Anissa Acosta (First Team), D’Youville’s Hannah Bardeen (Second Team), and Bridgeport’s Taylor Yates (Second Team) were named to the D2CCA list.
