LIU Post Falls to GVSU on Second Day at NCAA Championship, 2-0

Denver - The top-seeded LIU Post softball team fell 2-0 to fifth-seeded Grand Valley State University Friday afternoon at the Regency Athletic Complex on the campus of the Metropolitan State University of Denver on the second day of the 2019 NCAA Division II Softball Championship.

Despite the loss bringing the Pioneers' season to an end, LIU Post has had a historic 2019 campaign as its 51 wins stands as a program record. The Pioneers were also the East Region Champions and earned the No. 1 seed at the NCAA Division II Softball Championship.

Sophomore Hanna Finkelstein recorded a double and junior Megan Sneeden added one hit while on the mound junior Katie Humhej struck out four in 7.0 innings. She only allowed two runs and one walk.

LIU Post was forced to play catchup after GVSU scored two runs in the top of the first. Sneeden would record the Pioneers' first hit when she ripped a single to right center in the bottom of the third but was left stranded on base to end the inning.

Humhej would help keep the Lakers scoreless for the rest of the game and Finkelstein would double to left center in the bottom of the seventh, but GVSU managed to hold on for the 2-0 victory.
