Fortin Named Google Cloud Academic All-American

Greenwood, Ind. – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced LIU Post softball sophomore center fielder Abbey Fortin as a member of the Google Cloud Academic All-America Third Team June 6.
 
Fortin caps off her impressive sophomore resume after capturing National Fastpitch Coaches Association and Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-America accolades to go along with first-team All-East Region, East Coast Conference Player of the Year, first-team all-conference, and ECC Tournament Most Outstanding Player accolades.
 
As a criminal justice major, Fortin compiled a 3.89-grade point average to complement her athletic achievements. On the field this season she ranked fourth in Division II with 161 total bases and sixth with 19 home runs. She also added top-10 ranks with 81 hits and a .413 batting average, driving in 65 runs to lead the team. During the postseason, Fortin hit .444 with seven home runs and 13 RBIs, helping to lead the Green and Gold to a berth in the NCAA Division II East Super Regional against St. Anselm College.
 
Fortin is the first LIU Post softball player to garner Academic All-American accolades since Paige Swantek during the 2015 season.
