Fortin and Luzzi Headline Eight All-Region Selections from ECC

ECC Player of the Year, Abbey Fortin of LIU Post, and Bridgeport standout, Allison Luzzi, headline eight All-East Region selections from the East Coast Conference by earning consensus First Team status. The two sophomores were selected to the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) and National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) First Team.

There was no sophomore slump for Fortin, as she earned ECC Player of the Year honors after claiming the league's Rookie of the Year honor in 2017. The outfielder finished tops in the ECC with 81 hits, 56 runs, six triples, 19 homeruns, 65 RBI, 161 total bases, and an .821 slugging percentage, while also coming in at No. 2 in the league with a .413 batting average. Her numbers also put her among the national leaders as she ranks in the top-10 in all of Division II in hits, homeruns per game, total bases, homeruns, and RBI.

Luzzi was an ECC First Team pick at shortstop after finishing with a .384 batting average, 11 homeruns, and 36 RBI. Her name could be found among the conference's leaderboard in numerous categories. She ranked in the top-5 in the ECC with 45 runs, 61 hits, four triples, 11 homeruns, 116 total bases, 24 walks, a .468 on-base percentage, and a .730 slugging percentage.

Mercy College's Allie Pellizzaro and Mikayla Newham were among the other ECC standouts who were selected to an All-Region First Team but did not earn consensus honors. Pellizzarro was named to D2CCA First Team, while Newham claimed a spot on the NFCA First Team.

Other student-athletes from the ECC that earned Second Team All-Region status are Julia Seader, Skania Lemus, Kaira Ramon, and ECC Pitcher of the Year, Katie Humhej.
