Field Set for ECC Softball Championship

West Babylon, N.Y. - With regular season play now complete, the bracket for the ECC Softball Championship is set. LIU Post, Mercy, Molloy, and Bridgeport will battle next week to capture the ECC Softball Championship and the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Softball Championship.

This year's tournament will feature a slight change in format. LIU Post and Mercy, the top two seeds will each host a single game on their campus to kick off the tournament on Wednesday, May 2. Then after a day off, the rest of the tournament will be hosted by LIU Post on Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5.

LIU Post (32-16, 19-5 ECC) earns the right to host the weekend portion of the tournament after clinching their first regular season championship since 2014. This also marks the 25th straight season that the Pioneers have clinched a spot in ECC Championship.

LIU Post will start the tournament with a matchup against No. 4, Bridgeport (25-23, 12-12 ECC). The Purple Knights are back in the ECC Championship for the second time in three seasons. The two teams split the season series with three of the four games decided by two runs or less.

Mercy (28-15, 14-10 ECC) earned the No. 2 seed by finishing the season on a 14-2 tear over the final 16 games of the regular season. The Mavericks, who are the defending ECC Champions, will open up against No. 3 seed, Molloy (27-23, 13-11 ECC).

The Lions are back in the bracket for the 10th straight season and are in search of their fifth ECC Championship in the past eight seasons. Molloy swept all four games against Mercy during the regular season.

Game Two: No. 4 Bridgeport vs. No. 1 LIU Post - 3:00 p.m.

Friday, May 4 at LIU Post
Game Three: Game One winner vs. Game Two winner - 10:00 a.m.
Game Four: Game One loser vs. Game Two loser - 12:30 p.m.
Game Five: Game Three loser vs. Game Four winner - 3:00 p.m.

Saturday, May 5 at LIU Post
Game Six: Game Three winner vs. Game Five winner -12:00 p.m.
Game Seven: if necessary - 30 minutes after completion of Game Six
