Molloy's Season Ends Following 2-0 Loss to Humboldt State University in NCAA Championship

SALEM, Va. – After 55 games, the Molloy softball season concluded following a 2-0 loss to Humboldt State University in the NCAA Division II Championship at the Moyer Sports Complex. The maroon and white end the year 37-18.

The Lumberjacks went ahead 1-0 in the third inning on a sacrifice fly before doubling the lead in the fourth with a solo home run. Despite having baserunners in four of the seven innings, the Lions were only able to advance someone to second base once, falling 2-0.

Chelsea Hawks (Wading River, N.Y.) pitched a complete seven innings, allowing one earned run with six strikeouts. The senior ends her career with the Lions, totaling 625 strikeouts with a 2.62 career ERA. Fellow seniors Ashley Fedor (Monroe, Conn.) and Erin Clinton (Long Beach, Calif.) and graduate student Milan Botte (San Diego, Calif.) also conclude their career at Molloy.

"I told the team before the game that no matter what happened I didn't want this one game to signify our season," said Head Coach Susan Cassidy-Lyke. "We had a good run and hopefully the girls feel a little bit of pain, and that the pain will make them want to get back here."
