Nine from ECC Earn NFCA All-Region Distinction

Louisvlle, Ky. - Nine softball student-athletes from the East Coast Conference earned a spot on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-East Region Team.

Tracey Balinskas of Molloy and Kat Zabielski of NYIT both earned a spot on the First Team. Balinskas, an ECC All-Conference First Team pick as a utility-pitcher, helped Molloy to an ECC Championship both at the plate and in the circle. The senior hit .408 during the regular season with 16 doubles, eight homeruns, and 37 RBI. She also chipped in with eight wins in the circle.

Zabielski, the ECC Player of the Year, put together one of the most impressive seasons in ECC history. She was second in the conference with a .428 batting average to go along with a league-leading 20 homeruns and 72 runs batted in during the regular season. Zabielski's slugging percentage (.971), home run, RBI, and runs batted in per game total of 1.57 all ranked second nationally, as well.

Seven more student-athletes from the ECC earned a spot on the Second Team including ECC Pitcher of the Year, Hannah Olshevski, and ECC Rookie of the Year, Julia Seader, both from LIU Post. The others to earn Second Team honors are Ashley Martin of LIU Post, Gianna Gatto of Dowling, and Tori Duquette, Christina Pantages, and Amber Butenhoff of NYIT.
