Bracket Set for ECC Men's Tennis Championship

West Babylon, N.Y. – The East Coast Conference Men's Tennis Championship will take place this weekend at the Queens College Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. Daemen, District of Columbia, Queens, and St. Thomas Aquinas are the four teams that will compete for the conference title.

The tournament returns to its normal format after an abbreviated bracket competed this past spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic. First-serve comes on Friday, April 29 with two semifinal matchups. The winners will advance to the championship match on Saturday, April 30 at 12 noon.

Queens (15-7, 6-0 ECC) was undefeated in conference play to earn the top seed and regular season championship for the third straight season. The Knights are also winners of the past four ECC Championships.

Daemen (3-16, 0-6 ECC) will take on Queens in the first semifinal. The Wildcats look to pick up their first-ever ECC Championship victory and avenge a pair of 7-0 losses to the Knights during the regular season.

St. Thomas Aquinas is the No. 2 seed with a record of 15-7 (4-2 ECC). The Spartans, who have finished as the tournament’s runner-up in each of the last two seasons, are in search of the program’s first-ever ECC crown.

The Spartans will take on District of Columbia in the second semifinal. UDC (5-11, 2-4 ECC), back in the bracket after opting out of the 2021 season, has also never won an ECC Championship. The Firebirds have finished as runner-up three times, coming in consecutive seasons from 2011-13.

STAC swept the regular season meetings between the schools by scores of 5-0 and 6-1.

Each match of the championship will be streamed live on the ECC Network. Watch the ECC Network at www.eccsportsnetwork.com or by downloading the ECC Network app. Find the app by searching "ECC Network" on Apple or Android mobile phones and tablets or on Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, and Roku streaming devices. The broadcasts will mainly focus on the No. 1 flight in both doubles and singles but will switch to other courts when possible throughout the match.
