Bracket Set for ECC Men's Tennis Championship

Central Islip, N.Y. - The brackets are set for the ECC Men's Tennis Championship which will take place on Friday, April 24th and Saturday, April 25th on the campus of Queens College.

Championship action commences when ECC Regular Season Champion, NYIT, takes on No. 4 seed Roberts Wesleyan at 10 a.m. on Friday morning. NYIT, currently ranked No. 13 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II poll, finished the regular season with an unblemished 6-0 mark in ECC play. The Bears, who are looking to three-peat as ECC Champions, hold an 11-7 overall record on the season.

Roberts Wesleyan is making their first-ever appearance in the ECC Men's Tennis Championship in their first season as active members of NCAA Division II. The Redhawks (3-3 ECC, 11-9 overall) would have qualified for the tournament the past two seasons if not for their provisional member status. NYIT won the previous meeting between the two schools by a score of 9-0 on April 17th.

The other semifinal matchup is a rematch of a semifinal contest in 2014, featuring the No. 3 seed University of the District of Columbia going up against the host and No. 2, Queens College at 1 p.m. on Friday afternoon. The Firebirds come into the Championship with a 4-2 ECC mark and an 8-7 overall record, while Queens finished with a 5-1 ECC record and a 12-3 overall mark.

In their previous matchup this season, Queens came away victorious by a narrow, 5-4, margin.

The winners of the semifinals will advance to the championship match on Saturday at 12 noon. For more details, visit the tournament page by clicking here.
