Central Islip, N.Y. - The brackets are set for
the ECC Men's Tennis Championship which will take place on Friday,
April 25th and Saturday, April 26th on the campus of Queens
College.
Championship action commences when ECC Regular Season Champion,
NYIT, takes on No. 4 seed St. Thomas Aquinas at 11 a.m. on Friday
morning. NYIT finished the regular season with an unblemished 6-0
mark in ECC play and hold a 17-5 mark on the season. The Bears are
also currently ranked No. 19 team in Division II in the latest ITA
National Poll.
St. Thomas Aquinas makes the Championship field for the second
straight season after finishing with a 2-4 ECC (7-11 overall)
record. NYIT won the previous meeting between the two schools by a
score of 8-1 on February 7th.
The other semifinal matchup features No. 2 seed University of the
District of Columbia taking on the No. 3 seed and host, Queens
College at 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon. The Firebirds come into the
Championship with a 4-2 ECC mark and an 8-5 overall record, while
Queens finished with a 3-3 ECC record and an 11-7 overall mark.
In their previous matchup this season, UDC came away victorious by
a score of 6-3.
The winners of the semifinals will advance to the championship
