Molloy's NCAA Tournament Run Ends Against AIC

Charleston, W.Va. – The #10 Molloy men's soccer team fell to the #7 American International Yellow Jackets, 4-0, in the NCAA Tournament First Round Friday afternoon at the Welch Athletic Complex. The Lions finished the season 9-7-5, while the Yellow Jackets improved to 15-4-1.

How it Happened

  • The maroon and white created its first chance in the ninth minute. Sophomore Andy Blanco had a shot denied by AIC keeper Lucas Morales-Fernandez.
  • Gael Martin made it 1-0 Yellow Jackets with a goal in the 14th minute.
  • In the 22nd minute, graduate student Jesse Schleeper made a run down the right-side, but his chance went wide of the far-post.
  • Jordi Brinkman made it 2-0 AIC in the 29th minute.
  • The Yellow Jackets added a goal in the 43rd minute from Dirk Doppen and led 3-0 at the half.
  • Senior Kenneth Garcia had tries stopped in the 51st and 52nd minutes.
  • AIC made it 4-0 in the 85th minute.
  • The Lions outshot the Yellow Jackets 8-6 in the second half.
