Five ECC Men's Soccer Standouts Earn All-America Accolades

Five East Coast Conference men's soccer student-athletes have been named Division II All-Americans by different publications.

ECC Offensive Player of the Year, Gabriel Torres of University of the District of Columbia and ECC Defensive Player of the Year, Johan Mauritzson of LIU Post, were the only consensus All-America picks from the conference. Both earned a spot on the United Soccer Coaches and Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) teams.

Torres was a First Team pick in the D2CCA list and a Second Team honoree for the United Soccer Coaches. The sophomore forward helped the Firebirds to the most successful season in program history by tallying an ECC leading 20 goals, 12 assists, and 52 points. Torres finished second in the country points, third in points per game (2.36) and goals, and seventh in assists.

Mauritzson helped lead the Pioneers to the NCAA Quarterfinals by anchoring a back line that allowed only 19 goals in 21 games on the season. LIU Post also shut out eight different opponents on the year and ranked 30th nationally with a 0.87 goals against average.

Other All-American honorees from the ECC are Charlie Ledula, Harry Pearse, and Lukas Ostermann, all from LIU Post. Ledula and Pearse appear on the United Soccer Coaches list, with Ledula earning a spot on the First Team and Pearse selected to the Second Team. Ledula finished the year with 14 goals, one assist, and 29 points, while Pearse scored six goals and added 11 assists for 23 points. Pearse's assist total was good for 10th in the nation.

Ostermann was included on the D2CCA team as a Second Team selection. The ECC Rookie of the Year scored 18 goals and dished off six assists for 42 points on the season. His goal total was sixth in Division II and his point total was fifth.
