Kansas City, Mo. - ECC men's soccer
student-athletes Eivind Austboe (LIU Post), Gonzalo Barroso (NYIT),
and Per Forgaard (LIU Post) have been named to the 2014
Daktronics/Division II Conference Commissioners Association Men's
Soccer All-America Team. Austboe and Barroso are Second Team
selections, while Forgaard earns a spot on the Third Team.
Austboe earns his second straight Daktronics All-American
selection on the heels of leading the ECC with 17 goals and 38
points. For his efforts on the year, Austboe was also named the ECC
Offensive Player of the Year as well as the Daktronics East Region
Player of the Year.
Barroso, the ECC Defensive Player of the Year, helped NYIT win the
ECC Men's Soccer Championship and earn a berth in the NCAA
Tournament by being an integral cog in the Bears' stingy back line.
Barroso helped NYIT allow a conference-low 17 goals in 18 games on
the year.
Like Austboe, Forgaard makes his second straight appearance on the
Daktronics All-America ledger. In 23 games on the year, Forgaard
found the back of the net eight times and ranked second in the ECC
by dishing off nine assists to total 25 points on the season.
