Austboe Named Academic All-America® of the Year; Two Others Earn Academic All-America Status

Austin, Texas - Senior forward Eivind Austboe of LIU Post headlines the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Men's soccer team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Austboe has been selected as the recipient of the Academic All-America® of the Year award for Division II men's soccer for the second straight year.

The Capital One Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2014-15 Division II Academic All-America® teams program.

A business administration major with a 3.92 G.P.A., Austboe is now a two-time first team Capital One Academic All-America® selection and a three-time Capital One Academic All-America® All-District choice.  A native of Stavanger, Norway, he has led LIU Post to a 15-4-2 record and to the East Region final in the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year.

Austboe was named the East Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. He leads the league with 16 goals and five game-winners. He has added three assists for a total of 35 points. Austboe is tied for ninth in goals scored and tied for 15th in points.

The LIU Post standout has enjoyed a storied career. A year ago he was named a first team NSCAA All-American, the ECAC Offensive Player of the Year, and was the Daktronics Ron Lenz National Player of the Year.  He ranked third in the nation in goals, goals per game and points per game, and was fourth in total points while finishing with 24 goals and 10 assists for 58 points. The Pioneers finished with an 18-2-2 record, losing in the third round of the NCAA Division II playoffs.

In 2012, Austboe played in just seven contests before suffering a season-ending injury. He was named the ECAC Rookie of the Year in 2011 after leading the East Coast Conference in goals (16) and points (34).

In addition, Javier Gallardo of NYIT and Tabea Rauschenberger of Bridgeport were named to Capital One Academic All-America® second team for their respective genders.
