Evans, Ga. - ECC Offensive Player of the Year,
Eivind Austboe of LIU Post, leads the Daktronics NCAA Division II
Men's Soccer All-America team as the Ron Lenz National Player of
the Year. Four other standouts from the ECC have also earned
recognition as All-Americans.
Austboe led the Pioneers to their second straight ECC Championship
and an 18-2-2 record on the season with 24 goals and 10 assists for
58 points. His goal and point totals both rank second in all of
Division II.
Austboe's teammate and ECC Defensive Player of the Year, Eirik
Bjoernoe, was also named to the First Team. Bjoernoe was the anchor
of the Pioneers back line that ranked third in the ECC in allowing
only a 0.97 goals against average. He also contributed with five
goals, nine assists, and 19 points on the season.
A third Pioneer, Per Forgaard, also earned Second Team honors.
Forgaard was an All-Conference First Team member and also the Most
Outstanding Player of the ECC Championship. In 22 games, the
midfielder totaled four goals and eight assists.
Two more ECC student-athletes were included on the Third Team.
Vinny Caccavale of NYIT and Clayton Ulmer of Bridgeport rounded out
the ECC representation on the Daktronics All-America squad.
