Indianapolis, Ind. – The latest NCAA
Men’s Soccer East Regional rankings feature four teams from
the East Coast Conference.
Defending champion LIU Post is the first ECC team in the poll,
coming in at No. 2. The Pioneers fall one spot from last
week’s perch atop the poll after a defeat to now No. 1 Post.
The Pioneers, who also spent three weeks ranked as the top team in
the nation in the NSCAA Top 25 poll, have clinched their third
straight ECC regular season championship.
Next up at No. 4 is NYIT. The Bears have wrapped up their regular
season with a 12-4 record and await their fate on if they will make
the ECC Championship.
Dowling is next on the list at No. 6. The Golden Lions have enjoyed
a bounce back season in 2013. After posting only a 2-15-1 mark
which included a winless run in ECC play a year ago, Dowling has
put together a 10-3-3 record and clinched a spot in the ECC
Championship.
Mercy is next on the list at No. 7. The Mavericks are currently
9-3-4 on the season and need wins in their final two matches to
have a shot at making the ECC Championship.
The NCAA regional rankings are released once a week the final three
weeks of the season. The top six teams (there are no automatic
qualifiers for winning conference tournaments in Division II
men’s soccer) in the poll after the conference championships
will earn bids to the Division II Men’s Soccer
Tournament.
