Kansas City, Kan. - After winning their first
two games of the season last week, the LIU Post men’s soccer
team jumped to No. 3 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of
America (NSCAA) Division II Top 25 poll.
The Pioneers moved up five spots after coming in at No. 8 in the
preseason rankings. LIU Post took down Concordia, 3-0, in their
season opener and followed with a 3-2 victory over Adelphi. ECC
Offensive Player of the Week, Eivind Austboe helped lead the
Pioneers to a fast start with nine points on three goals and three
assists.
LIU Post’s next game will be against Wilmington on Thursday
at the University of Bridgeport. Wilmington also is ranked in the
NSCAA Top 25 at No. 22 after opening their season with a win over
Franklin Pierce.
Mercy College, which opened their 2013 campaign with two 1-0 wins
over Chestnut Hill and Southern Connecticut St., was also listed in
the poll in the others receiving votes category.
The NSCAA released their first East Region rankings on Tuesday as
well. LIU Post was atop the first rankings and was joined by three
other ECC members. Mercy came in at No. 4 in the poll and was
followed by NYIT at No. 7 and District of Columbia at No. 10.
